Darais doing Bridal Makeup on the TV show Fat Free Fiances

When The E Channel contacted me and told me about a new show they were doing called Fat Free Fiance's and also a little bit about Courtney and Rick I was so excited to be a part of it! I got to go meet Courtney a week before her and Rick's Wedding and discuss with her the bridal look she had always dreamed of. We got to know each other at the Long Beach Art Center as she shared with me her accomplishments, her trials, her jokes, her smile, all in such gratitude I left feeling overcome completely. I submerged in my mission to make it the best day I could fort both the beautiful bride... and Rick. Thank you E Network for introducing us and allowing me to be the makeup artist for the wedding.

Many of you know how hard it is to lose a little bit of weight... Courtney and Rick didn't just lose a little. They lost together 117 lbs in just 12 weeks. Each week they would reach their goal another part of the wedding was rewarded!

I always say to women complaining about their wrinkles... "just gain some weight... it plumps them out!" Courtney I know you would take wrinkles over health struggles any day... You are perfect... and made a perfect bride... Love you both!

When ever I work with a bride I always try to teach them the meaning behind my madness. I don't do trend at weddings. I don't want pictures to be dated. I won't match your eye shadow to your colors!!!! Your dress and hair already do a good job at out dating your pictures sometimes. I keep it classic and elegant. Romantic with a bit of sultry in the eyes. I stay away from bright colors keeping the palette neutrals with plums, mauve's pale pinks and metallic. Also False Lashes can overtake your entire look and you wont look like yourself in your pics. I used them on Courtney... but kept them very natural. You also don't want to be uncomfortable with heavy lashes on all day or worry that they might pop off in the middle of the reception. Also make sure you use some of my waterproofing techniques... If you watch in the video below you will see how important that is as the emotions could have easily taken off all of my work on High Definition TV! TIP OF THE WEEK!!! Brought to you by: Mascara Wands

Are Mascara specks messing up your morning makeup? Try applying your mascara to your lower lashes first. Then Apply your top lash mascara... It's usually looking up with wet mascara to apply your lower lash mascara that makes the mess!
2 reasons to put concealer or foundation over your lips!!! 1. If lipsticks and glosses change color on you its because of your natural lip undertones. use a concealer or foundation first and blot them out. Then apply liner, lipstick, and or gloss to get a true color. 2. fleshy nude glossy lips are a must for everyone. Especially smokey eyed girls. Fill in your lips with concealer or foundation, use a nude natural liner, and a clear gloss or very light peach caramel color!
Ladies!!! Wash your makeup brushes!!! My sister just laughed at me... But seriously... Your brushes are falling apart and shedding because if lack of care. The best time to wash them? Right after you use them twice a week. That allows plenty of dry time before the next use. Use a cloudy looking (moisturizing) drop of shampoo and warm water. Lay flat on a paper towel or clothe to dry. Its amazing how much better a clean brush feels... Adrienne!!! LoL
Curling your lashes can help your eyes look wider and more open. Use your fingertip and push them up in a curled postition as your mascara is drying. This will help them from falling down flat while the mascara dries.
If black eye liner has become too harsh looking try using grey liner if you wear silver jewelry or brown liner if you wear gold!!! Also gold looks best for summer!!! Are you stocked up and ready for it? My top 3 gold Lancome shadows are Kitten Heel, Burnt Sand, and 24 Karat!!! 5/09
Lashes not looking as long as they used to? ZigZag the mascara wand at the base of your lashes. Mascara at the lash base makes your lashes look their longest. 5/03
Summer is coming and so is a darker skin shade for you! Don't look pastey by using your winter shade of foundation all summer long! But wait there's time...Get a shade that is a little bit darker than you are right now and mix with your winter color! Doing so will give you your Spring color for Foundation! As Summer gets closer and closer just mix in less of your winter shade! 4/13

Do you got freckles? Connect the dots... la la la la! I say its a sign of good skin... and I love them! One thing I don't love is when a woman is covered in freckles head to toe and then covers them up just on her face with her foundation! Please don't use a foundation because it will look like you are wearing a mask when your face doesn't match your body. Instead use a tinted moisturizer for a sheer more natural coverage. If freckles are just on your face and not on your body then sure, use a foundation, but, make sure it still looks like skin! 3/21
Want to be balanced when it comes to your Morning MakeUp? Dramatic eyes and dramatic lips at the same time is a whole lot to focus on...especially by those you communicate with! Find balance by deciding what you are going to do more of that day. Listeners Listen up! Your eyes should be the focus and more dramatic keeping peoples attention as they talk to you and see that you are listening! Don't confuse them with a bold lip. When they look down it can break up the conversation. Do you talk alot... or too much! Perfect! Just make sure you have brighter, more beautiful lips that are more powerful than the eyes. Eyes should be toned down with a clean base, soft contour, little liner and mascara! Singers like Madonna, Debbie Reynolds, and Gwen Stefani do it all the time! 03/07
Have you ever heard the term, "LESS IS MORE"? It is even true when it comes to makeup. Most woman know how to put on too much makeup... The hard part is knowing when to stop. The point where it is no longer flattering but aging! As much as I love MakeUp just remember... The more you put on the older you look... Especially when it comes to concealer! 03/01
Ever notice a mans neck as they get older? They don't age the same as a womans. Know why? A big reason is because men shave!!! Shaving is like exfoliating! Woman don't start shaving...ha ha... just make sure at least twice a week you are exfoliating and scrubing your face next and body with a facial scrub and body scrub. I love using an old worn down wash rag! Be careful not to scrub too hard! You'll be amazed also at how much smoother your foundation will appear and also how much better your creams and serums will soak into your skin! 02/21
Nothing blends better than a dirty brush... I know! I want to make a blendig eye shadow called dirty brush! However, brushes that aren't washed weekly are full of bacteria and germs and also will fall apart all over your face. ONCE A WEEK you need to use a drop of cloudy shampoo and warm water. Clear shampoo's are more stripping, while cloudy shampoo's are more conditioning. Hot water can melt the glue so use warm and let dry laying flat on a towel. Standing up in a cup while drying will warp the wood over time. Also Powder brushes start to shed due to lack of moisture. Use a hair conditioner once a month on your favorite powder, blush, cheek and animal hair eye brushes. Wash your brushes at night before bed. They will be dry and ready to use by morning. It feels amazing the next day with a clean brush... kind of like clean sheet day! LOL 02/08
I would say 50% of DARK CIRCLES aren't dark circles at all... just fallen eyeshadow and liner. My very favorite way to remove fallen eye shadows and Morning MakeUp Mess is with a q-tip dipped in a little of your eye cream. Using eye makeup remover removes all the treatment, foundation, concealer, applied to the eyes to protect and correct them. Next time use a q-tip with your eye cream and gently sweep away any fallen shadows and mascara specks. 02/01

After all your Make Up is on... Use a small amount of your eye cream and apply to the tops of your cheek bones using your ring finger. This not only gives you extra hydration and highlight, but also sheers down excess make up that can collect into the expression lines around the eyes! 01/11
Is your LIP GLOSS poppin? ha! Gloss texture makes things look BIGGER! No wonder most girls use it on their lips! Thanks to Angelina Jolie everyone now is in search for bigger lips. To achieve this without the pain of an injection use lipgloss. It can be worn alone, over lipstick, or liner. Also it can be worn at any age... even with glitter in it. When choosing your color match it to your blush and also match the glitter sparkle to the color of jewelry you are wearing that day. Then everyting will just seem seamless!!! 01/03

Lexie's question: How do you incorporate Make Up with skins undertones? Answer: Lexie, everyone has an undertone of either warm, cool, or neutral. I believe you were neutral when we did your masterclass. Now I always say there are no rules but it is found that if you go with the same colors below, based on your skin's undertone, that they can look the most flattering on you. If you go opposite sometimes the colors can jump too much or appear to flashy! Here is the undertone breakdown with the colors from my most popular post!!! Cool= Pinks, Lavenders, Roses, Reds, Pure White, Silvers and Greys. Think Jewel tones. Warm= Peaches, Yellows, Golds, Oranges, Greens, Coppers, Browns. Think Earthy tones.
